The Electoral Commission of Ghana has
announced that it will begin receiving official nomination forms for
presidential and parliamentary candidates at its head office from Monday, 9th
September to Friday, 13th September 2024, between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM
each day.
In a press release signed by its Deputy
Chairman of Operations, the Commission stated that candidates vying for the
presidential position are required to make a payment of One Hundred Thousand
Cedis (GH¢100,000.00), while parliamentary candidates are required to pay Ten
Thousand Cedis (GH¢10,000.00). However, female presidential candidates and
persons with disabilities are required to pay Seventy-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis
(GH¢75,000.00) and Seven Thousand Five Hundred Cedis (GH¢7,500.00) for female
parliamentary candidates and persons with disabilities.
Interested candidates are required to download the nomination forms from the Commission’s website (https://ec.gov.gh/forms/) starting from Friday, 2nd August 2024.
Meanwhile, individuals who will be contesting as independent candidates are advised to contact the Electoral Commission for a passcode to enable them to download the presidential and parliamentary nomination forms from the website.
The 2020 presidential and parliamentary
elections will happen concurrently on December 7 2024 across the country.
