Biography
Hassan Ayariga is a Ghanaian politician and the flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC). Born on October 9, 1971, in Bawku, in the Upper East Region of Ghana, Ayariga comes from a political home.
His father, Frank Abdulai Ayariga, served as a Member of Parliament for Bawku during the Third Republic under President Hilla Limann, while his mother, Anatu Ayariga, was a dedicated businesswoman who championed child education in northern Ghana.
Ayariga spent his early years between Accra and Bawku before his family went into exile in Nigeria following the overthrow of the Limann’ administration.
Growing up in exile, Ayariga attended schools in several locations, including Accra, Bawku, and Tamale, before completing his secondary education at Ghana Secondary School. He later moved to Nigeria, where he studied at Barewa College in Zaria. He furthered his studies in accounting at the London School of Accountancy.
Politically, Hassan Ayariga’s roots are deeply tied to the Nkrumah-Egala-Limann tradition. In 2002, he joined the People's National Convention (PNC), a party founded by former president Hilla Limann. His leadership potential quickly became evident when he was elected chairman of the PNC’s Germany (Cologne) Chapter.
In 2004, he contested for the vice chairmanship of the PNC but withdrew to support Hon. John Ndebugri.
As Ayariga’s political ambitions grew, he eventually founded the All Peoples Congress (APC), seeking to provide inclusive governance and fast-track national development.
In addition to his political career, Hassan Ayariga is a successful businessman. He began his career in Germany, working as an accountant with WaffenSchimdt GmbH and later as a quality control manager at Peter Huppertz Ford Motors, where he spent a decade.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish multiple businesses, including Hassan Ayariga & Co. Haulage Company, which supplies trucks for infrastructure development. He also founded Clean Us Ghana, a waste management company.
