2024 - 2024 Presidential Election (Algeria)

The 2024 Algeria presidential election will be held on September 7th. More than 24 million voters are expected to vote in the election which was initially expected in December 2024. Some 800,000 voters are also expected to cast their ballots overseas. Overseas voting began on September 2 while voting in remote areas commenced on September 4.
Contesting in this election is the incumbent and independent candidate, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, leader of the Movement of Society for Peace, Abdelaali Hassani Cherif and Youcef Aouchiche, of the Socialist Forces Front. Filing for candidates ended on July 18, 2024 while campaigning began on August 15 and ended on September 3, 2024.
The president of Algeria is elected using the two-round system to serve a 5-year term, renewable once according to the electoral law.
