ECOWAS suspends Cote d'Ivoire
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has suspended Cote d'Ivoire from the body. The suspension was announced on Tuesday 7th December at the end of ECOWAS emergency summit held on the Ivorian crisis by the Nigerian President and Chair of ECOWAS Goodluck Jonathan. ECOWAS is calling for the incumbent Ivorian Laurent Gbagbo to step down for Alassane Ouattara, the opposition leader, to take over as the winner of country’s round elections. |
