Kenya: President Kibaki Assures Peaceful Elections

President Kibaki stated during a forum in Mombasa's Leisure Lodge that security measures are being put in place to guarantee a peaceful election on March 4, 2013 adding that the government will enhance security during elections to ensure a peaceful process.

President Kibaki also urged Kenyans to register as voters ahead of the deadline on Tuesday and that the government had also supported the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in all its endeavors to ensure voter registration was on course.

Also, National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende said Kenyans must ensure that they hold free and fair elections while upholding peace and urged Kenyans to participate in the elections and bring a closure to it by resuming their normal lives after the polls.

Mr. Marende also stated  that Kenya requires good policies that will stimulate further economic growth, adding that "Economic development cannot take place without the key ingredients of transparency and good policy making."
