Adama Barrow wins second term with a landslide victory
His main contender, Ousainou Darboe and two other opposition candidates, Mama Kandeh and Independent candidate Essa Mbye Faal have rejected the results citing irregularities.
Barrow received around 53% of Saturday's votes, defeating his nearest rival, political veteran Ousainou Darboe, who polled about 28 percent of the votes cast.
The vote was the first in 27 years not involving former President Yahya Jammeh, who is in exile in Equatorial Guinea after refusing to accept defeat to Barrow in the 2016 elections.
Darboe and two other candidates, Mama Kandeh and Essa Mbye Faal, said they would not accept the results because the results took longer than expected for a voter population of about 900,000. They also mentioned some unspecified problems encountered by their representatives at polling stations. |
