#TunisiaElection: Outsiders Stun Leading Presidential Aspirants

An independent candidate and a law professor Kais Saied placed first in the just ended first round of Tunisia's presidential polls, the second elections for a president after the 2011 Arab Spring
Saied won the first round with 18.9 percent ahead of imprisoned media mogul Nabil Karoui, who had 15.5 percent, according to the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE).
Incumbent Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, a presidential hopeful whose popularity has been tarnished by a sluggish economy and the rising cost of living is seen as  the election's biggest loser.
According to ISIE figures, Prime Minister Youssef Chahed came in fifth place with 7.4 percent of the vote, trailing both Ennahdha party candidate Abdelfattah Mourou and former defence minister Abdelkarim Zbidi.
Both leading candidates will now square-off in a second and final round, either on 29 September, 6 October or 13 October.
