#DRCongo elections: Kabila Will Not Run In Upcoming Elections- PM Hints Public
President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Joseph Kabila will not be partaking in the upcoming elections scheduled for December this year.
On Tuesday Prime Minister, Bruno Tshibala said the President will not run in the upcoming elections.
The Prime Minister gave reasons for this decision stating that,President Kabila is not eligible constitutionally to seek a third term and as such will respect the constitution.
Kabila officially ended his second term in 2016 but refused to stepdown. This spark up conflict in the country and has gone a long way to delay elections.
Meanwhile, President Kabila is yet to publicly declare his stance,wheather to run as a presidential candidate or not. Joseph Kabila took over as president from his father Laurent who was assassinated in 2001.
