#Egypt Elections: Egypt Goes to Polls to Elect New President
Egyptians will start voting today in a 3-day marathon that will end on Wednesday 28th March 2018. The election has already been marred by boycott of key opposition parties and many see this election as an endorsement or referendum for the incumbent President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The only contender for this Presidential election is Moussa Mostafa Moussa leader of the Ghad Party who has on various platforms claimed El-Sisi is the right man for the presidency.
According to the National Elections Authority, the total number of eligible voters is 59 million. The elections according to the National Electoral Authority will be supervised by 18, 000 judges in 13,706 polling stations in all 26 governorates across the country.
Polls begins at 9am (7:00GMT) in the morning and closes at 9pm in the evening. Both candidates have called on all Egyptians in the country to partake in this year’s elections.
