#KenyaElections: Police to investigate election officials

Director of Public Prosecutions Kenya, Keriako Tobiko has ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate election officials who were allegedly involved in the electoral offences that took place in the annulled August 8 presidential poll.

Tobiko has also asked the DCI and EACC to investigate allegations made by the National Super Alliance (NASA) against 11 senior International Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners, and allegations made by Jubilee party against Musalia Madavad, and James Orengo, two senior NASA leaders who they claim had illegal access to IEBC records.

The Supreme Court delivered its full judgment last week, concluding that the IEBC released presidential results that were not verified. The commission did not have all tally forms when they announced Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of the election. Additionally, some forms were missing key security features including watermarks, signatures and serial numbers, raising questions about their authenticity.

A fresh poll is scheduled for 26 October.
