Military Troop Carry Vehicles (TCVs) being used to carry electoral materials

A report by Kumasi-based Kessben FM and repeated by some leading members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region alleged that some soldiers were arrested for using military Troop Carry Vehicles (TCVs) to carry items which were initially believed to be electoral materials.

EXPLANATION: Checks undertaken by the African Elections Project Fact-Checking team reveals that, Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the Ashanti Regional Police Command and other security agencies in the Region did not confirm any of the allegations made against GAF by both KESSBEN FM and the NPP officials.

The said TCV mentioned in the allegation was a GAF vehicle which was returning to Kumasi from Accra with military stores (notably boot combat and web equipment).
